Since its introduction, more than 50% of the worldwide newborn/infant extra-corporeal circulation cases have been carried out with a LILLIPUT™ oxygenator.
The LILLIPUT™ Reservoir is designed to minimize blood sequestration by reducing the minimum operating level to just 15 mls.
Small babies are much more vulnerable to inflammatory response due to the larger foreign surface area of the extracorporeal circuit compared to their small size. For them, the use of modified surfaces should be mandatory in order to improve their haemocompatibility. LILLIPUT™ is available, in all its versions, also Phisio coated.
Thanks to the presence of phosphorylcholine polar groups in the Phisio polymer there is a phospholipid-like structure that creates a biomembrane on the surfaces when they come in contact with the blood cell membrane phospholipids.
